£2.06 flushed away every second
“Since you started reading: £2.06 of energy value flushed into Welsh rivers (£2.06/second, £178,000/day)”
wrong Retired in version 2.0.0, 2 October 2026.
Where it appeared: Home page: ticking counter.
Why it failed
Derived from the claim above: (718,803 − 69,000 MWh) × £100/MWh ÷ seconds in a year. The inputs were wrong (see above), £100/MWh had no source, and 69,000 MWh was 23% of an unsourced 300,000 MWh. The energy is also largely recovered, not flushed.
